Matan is a heavily jungled province in the western side of the Island. The province is bordered to the northeast by Madi, to the north by Pontaningal and to the east by Waringin.

The land is mostly think and dense jungle and the bulk of the population are confined to the coastline with few inland towns. The island populations live from the sea and fishing is a major part of the culture.
Currently there are negotiations with the Prince of House Scipio over the taxes being levied for use of the River Djelai and these negotiations are rapidly heading towards an outbreak of hostilities between the two houses.
